So, I've been doing paleo for 19 days and I'm feeling good so Far! I've even moved into less fruit and little honey as well. But I have a question. I Love to cook. I REALLY do. But sometimes when I get out of work and I'm all tired and I was too busy the day before to prepare food for the next day, I really want to just grab something! Does anyone have any ideas on places we can go out to eat? Plus, I miss being able to go out to eat with friends. Any good places to go? Besides sushi. Cause having worked in Sushi for 2 years now, I am SO sick of it!

If I'm looking to grab something quick, a rotisserie chicken from Greenlife plus some veggies from their prepared deli case is a good option. Laurey's always has something good & Paleo, and you can eat it there or take it to go. I had a great meal at Limones last week: beef tenderloin with sweet potato / chorizo hash + roasted brussel sprouts.

I've had to eat out several times this week while out of town. I found it amazingly easy to ask for substitutes (can I have the salad instead of the potato? May I have sauteed spinach instead of rice? Can you leave the sauce off the fish and just grill it? Usually the answer is yes or you have to pay a little more but it is doable). The one exception was at a Mediterranean restaurant in Chapel Hill, which came with freshly baked pita (oh. my. god. help me...) and rice. They wouldn't substitute. So I had the skewered lamb, the cucumber salad, the eggplant, and left a heap o' rice on my plate. I hate to waste food; it's a crime, but sometimes it happens. Fortunately I have garbage disposals for kids at home and brought all the non paleo stuff home.

Mamacitas- I LOVE to get the salad and load up on all the paleo friendly fixings
Mela Indian downtown: Alot of choices. I always roll sans rice.
Early Girl for breakfast: they have an awesome sweet potato scramble!
I remember getting a very good paleo breakfast at Chorizo in the Grove arcade.
I find in general I can find something at most restaurants. The unfortunate part is often it comes in the shape of a big salad with chicken on it. (i.e. Asheville pizza & Brew). Not always the most appetizing thing, but gets me through.

12 Bones Green Salad (not the evil WEDGE!) with the roasted turkey and no cheese Nine Mile's "JAMAICAN ME THIRSTY" w/Chicken and zucchini substitute instead of pasta Tomato Cocina has an amazing salad at lunch with chicken, egg and avocado. Started in mid Dec, made it through Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years! Just not my 9 days in Mexico... Punishment? naaa... well, this week was my first week at crossfit. and apparently Ive been neglecting my upper body since ever. Glad I came across the Paleo thread!
